DCS Chairman and CEO, Jim Benbow, has more than 40 years of engineering and management experience in the defense technology sector. He began his career at DCS as a newly degreed optical engineer supporting a wide spectrum of naval aviation programs. After gaining broad industry experience, Jim returned in 2004 to lead the Business Development organization, bringing fresh perspectives and momentum to the company’s growth strategy. In 2016, he was appointed CEO, where he continues to shape DCS’s long‑term direction and strengthen its reputation as a trusted solution provider. 

As Chairman and CEO, Jim champions DCS’s strong employee‑ownership culture, fosters continuous improvement across the enterprise, and drives strategic positioning that keeps the company ahead of emerging defense and engineering needs. Over his 27 cumulative years with DCS, his leadership has been instrumental in expanding the company’s capabilities, customer base, and solution set.  

Prior to his return to DCS, Jim held senior business development roles at Titan Corporation, Averstar, Inc., Intermetrics, Inc., and Horizons Technology, Inc. He holds a B.S. in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester.
